Asheville is located in the southern Appalachian mountains, founded in 1797 it's known as America's happiest city. Asheville features an artsy community known for it's arts and crafts, acting performances and several large art shows during the year. The city is also known as a new age mecca, with many organizations that have classes in yoga, meditation as well as other activities. Outdoor activities are everywhere in and around the city. Stop by the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center located just off the parkway near Asheville North Carolina. The visitors center is a great place to get all the information and maps you'll require for your trip.

See the home and grounds of the famous writer Carl Sandburg when you visit the Carl Sandburg Home located on 264 acres south of Hendersonville North Carolina. You'll see hiking trails and a working dairy farm with goats!
Enjoy a day at the North Carolina Arboretum. The Arboretum has a wide botanical plant collection and many walking trails. The Arboretum also has a restaurant and gift shop in addition to learning exhibits.

The Western North Carolina Nature Center is home to over 50 species of animals located on 40 acres of land near the city of Asheville North Carolina. Come visit the wide range of southern appalachian animals.
Visit the Town of Chimney Rock for a day of shopping and gem mining. Chimney Rock State Park is great place to hike and the view from the top is jaw dropping. Side hiking trails include ridge views and waterfalls.
